Great article. Two thoughts come to mind:

1 / 80% of all the energy in a large organisation is used to maintain itself. 20% is for everything else, like seeking new clients, developing R&D, and strategy planning.

2/ If the centre understood its role was to serve the periphery, then it would not struggle to agree to the second option.

Perfectly describes our current chaos. But not just in the UK but in the West. Understanding what to preserve and what must be allowed to die is what current status quo can’t fathom. The periphery is their blind spot.
